Anfangs arbeitet er ganz im Stil seines Lehrmeisters nach der Wiener Schule. Er übernimmt sein Modell mit einer hoch angelegten Wölbung. Auch der dunkle, dünn aufgetragen Lack ist typisch für diese Zeit und Gegend. Tonlich sind seine Instrumente hervorragend und sehr gesucht. Nicht umsonst trägt Geissenhof den Beinamen der Wiener Stradivari .
